1. Uganda Tourist Visa – Single Entry

  • Purpose: For travelers visiting Uganda for tourism, medical treatment, or family visits.
  • Validity: Up to 3 months.

2. Diplomatic and Official Visa

  • Purpose: Issued to individuals holding diplomatic or official passports on official government business.
  • Validity: Aligned with the duration of the official assignment.

3. Transit Visa

  • Purpose: For travelers transiting through Uganda to another destination.
  • Validity: Typically valid for 7 days.

4. Multiple-Entry Visa

  • Purpose: For frequent travelers to Uganda.
  • Validity: Can be issued for 6 months, 12 months, or 24 months, depending on the applicant’s needs and justification.

5. East African Tourist Visa

  • Purpose: Allows travel between Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda with a single visa.
  • Validity: 90 days multiple-entry among the three countries.
  • Details: Ideal for tourists planning to visit multiple East African countries.

Application Process:

Uganda utilizes an online system for visa applications. To apply:

  1. Access the Uganda Electronic Visa/Permit Application System: Visit https://visas.immigration.go.ug/.
  2. Create an Account: Register with a valid email address.
  3. Select Application Type: Choose between ‘Visa’ or ‘Permit’.
  4. Choose Visa Category: Options include Ordinary, Multiple-Entry, Diplomatic and Official, Transit, or East Africa Tourist Visa.
  5. Complete the Application Form: Provide accurate personal and travel information.
  6. Upload Required Documents: This may include a recent passport-sized photograph, a copy of your passport bio-data page, and vaccination certificates (e.g., Yellow Fever, COVID-19).
  7. Pay the Visa Fee: Fees vary based on visa type and nationality; payment is made online.
  8. Submit the Application: After submission, you’ll receive a confirmation email.
  9. Await Processing: Processing times can vary; it’s advisable to apply well in advance of your travel dates.
  10. Receive e-Visa Approval: Once approved, you’ll receive the e-Visa via email. Print a copy to present upon arrival in Uganda.
